Drinking responsibly at Murphy’s Taproom, we take pride in being Manchester’s beloved Irish pub, a place where people come together to enjoy dinner and drinks with friends and family. We are committed to keeping our taproom a fun, safe place for everybody that visits. While we know there are many that like to indulge in the relaxing effects of alcohol, we also want to make sure it doesn’t interfere with anybody’s good time, including your own. To that end, here are some tips for being able to enjoy our drinks at just the right level of elevation.
Stay hydrated.
Having a glass of water between every drink can go a long way toward counteracting the dehydrating effects of alcohol. In addition to replenishing your body’s water, the time between drinks gives your liver a chance to process the alcohol you’ve already consumed. You’ll also be able to avoid the next morning’s hangover!
Avoid an empty stomach.
Drinking on an empty stomach is an express ticket to Sloppy-town, because there is no buffer to slow your body’s absorption of alcohol into your bloodstream. That means reduced tolerance and higher susceptibility to the impairments of alcohol. Fortunately, we’ve got a full menu of pub food to complement all of the beers on tap that we offer.
Know your limits.
It can be hard to stop drinking once you’ve had a few, but you may wake up the next morning full of remorse for the embarrassing behavior you exhibited to friends and strangers at the pub. Keep an eye on yourself, and know when to pull the plug. If you catch yourself stumbling or slurring, it may be time to call it a night.
Arrange rides ahead of time.
If you’re planning on drinking at our Manchester pub, make sure you know how you’re getting home. Alcohol impairs your judgement, and you may think it’s ok to get behind the wheel if you don’t think you have another option. At our Irish pub, you always have another option; ask one of our bartenders to call you a taxi, and we’ll help make sure you get home safely.
